The Christian’s warfare against attacks on the mind by Satan and the way to victory.

As you read through the New Testament, you cannot fail to note that Christians are often warned against the attacks of the Devil. When Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness he was tempted by the Devil. Satan tempted Jesus to make stones into bread because Jesus hungered. Jesus replied in Matthew 4:4, “ It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Satan tempted Jesus 3 times and Jesus never gave in to the temptation. This is how we ought to be when the Devil tempts us. Don’t let Satan devour you. The Devil will tempt us it is our decision if we let him overcome us. In 1 Peter 5:8 it says, “Be sober be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Some people think that all that is needed in this warfare with the Devil is to know God, but to pay no attention to the enemy. This is one of Satan’s cleverest devices. Satan deceitfully hides his identity in drugs, alcohol, sinful acts, evil doings, etc, so then people wouldn’t expect his presence or purposes. Satan will lure you into divers temptations but you make the ultimate choice to follow through in the temptation that Satan puts before you.
In Matthew 4 when Jesus was tempted by Satan Jesus didn’t follow through in the temptation. This is why Christians need to be more Christ like.
Satan will attack your mind first because that is where all your thoughts begin. Satan can attack anybody’s mind, even Christians. We all need to be aware of the Devil because he is seeking who he can devour. Satan will try to make us think doubts, especially doubts concerning the greatness of God. A mind obsessed by Satan’s evil thoughts is a mind that is corrupted and a mind that thinks evil of God. In order to avoid this we are told in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Satan has certain weapons to harass Christians such as; Worry, fret, complaining, impure thoughts, hate, evil thoughts, grief, jealousy, pride, impatience and so many more. Probably the most common weapon Satan uses is worry. Having peace with God will keep your emotions in balance and our minds thinking correctly but instead we worry. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Another verse in Romans 8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
The way to victory to over come Satan’s attacks on Christians is to first realize that Satan is a defeated foe. We gain victory over Satan anytime we claim the name of Jesus Christ. In Colossians 1:13-14 it says, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
Another way to over come Satan’s attacks is to put on the whole armour of God. In Ephesians 6:10-11 it says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Chapter 6 of Ephesians can tell you how to withstand the Devil. We need to have protection from the Devil because he never takes a day off. Be prepared daily by reading the Word of God and being filled with the Holy Spirit to resist the devil and the temptations he puts before us. Pick up your sword and fight for God because He is fighting for you.
Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
